Schoolgen

What a fantastic day we had today! The day started with a powhiri to welcome visitors from Genesis Energy and Schoolgen. They were visiting us because Muritai School are the first school in Wellington to have solar panels installed on our roof!

Later on in the morning we spent time with Mike and Maggie from Schoolgen who told us more information about the solar panels and how they create electricity for our school.
In the afternoon we checked out the schoolgen website where we could see how much electricity our solar panels were generating over the day. We could even compare ourselves with other schools in New Zealand.
At the end of the day we visited the Senior School to check out the solar panels first hand. We then went into the Enviro Room to check out the hot-e box and inverter that converts direct current (dc) to alternating current (ac).
We sure did learn a lot today. If you would like to know more about solar panels and Schoolgen programme visit the website by clicking on the link in the sidebar.
