Camp Comics

This week we used the photos from camp to make a simple comic, showing highlights from last week. We needed to use thought bubbles to show 'inner thought' at a particular moment in time. When we start writing our recount it is very important to include 'inner thought'.

Here are a couple of examples of our comics. To view them all please visit our Writing Log.

Confidence Courses are go!

Last week Room 15 started the construction of our "Ultimate Confidence Courses". We have been working incredibly hard, starting with putting our designs onto paper. We have been working in groups to develop our courses so everyone has needed to focus on the task at hand so we don't let anyone down!
All courses are due to be finished by Tuesday so they will ready to be presented to the camera. Watch this space throughout the week for updates!

Camp Recount by Caleb

Here is just a taster of the quality writing which has been published on the Room 15 writing log. Well done Caleb!!!

The Mudslide
By Caleb Hewson
I stared up at the massive, black mudslide. Instantly I was terrified by the sight of it. Despite that I was really excited. Then I slowly began climbing up the steps, the mud squelching in between my cold toes. Eventually I reached the peak of the terror-filled mudslide. My body shaking in the wind. I fixed my eyes on the mud at the bottom. I could smell the foul stench of cow manure. Suddenly a volt of fear shot through me like electricity. Then I turned around, I could hear kids screaming and shouting in excitement! When the kids came to the top of the slide I let them past me. Scared. Cold. I didn't know what to do? Suddenly I heard a giant splash! By the looks of it I could see BenV climbing up the steps. It was my turn. I was horrified but I forced myself. I could see the detergent dribbling down the slide like a snake. Anyway I jumped and landed on the slide. I was zooming down as fast as a jaguar could run! The freezing water was spraying up in my face. Without time to think about anything I hit the mud! It was cold and awful. So I immediately hurried out of the water like a hungry jackal looking for food. “Man that was awesome!!!!” I screeched. Then I sprinted up the muddy path again and went on the awesome fun-filled mudslide again. After about fifty goes I thought it was the best and most fun slide ever!!I was so proud of myself and so were my friends.

Our Writing Blog Has Started!

We have finally got our writing blog underway! Please click on the link in the sidebar to view writing that has been written by members of Room 15. Hopefully there are no errors (or very few) in our writing because we have worked through the entire writing process of planning, drafting, editing, re-crafting, conferencing and publishing.
Our first examples of writing are from our recount unit where we wrote about our experiences from Forest Lakes Camp.
We would love for you to leave a comment and give us feedback on our work.
